Feel the Heat

Extremes, though contrary, have the like effects. Extreme heat kills, and so extreme cold: extreme love breeds satiety, and so extreme hatred; and too violent rigor tempts chastity, as does too much license. — George Chapman

The summer is hot. The crops are dying, food and gasoline prices are on the rise, tempers flare, and politicians are on vacation. And the people, the people suffer the misery created by both nature and politicians. Continue reading

Character

Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound. — James Allen

Getting discouraged is not the way to improve your life. Getting frustrated is not the way to improve your life. Getting told by politicians that you need government to survive and to be happy is definitely not the way to improve your life. Continue reading

Simple Questions

Follow the path of the unsafe, independent thinker. Expose your ideas to the dangers of controversy. Speak your mind and fear less the label of ‘crackpot’ than the stigma of conformity. And on issues that seem important to you, stand up and be counted at any cost. — Thomas J. Watson

Have you ever wondered why things are evolving the way they are? There is a simple answer but before I get to it I want to explore some issues that are happening in our country today and start by asking some basic questions. I want to make these open-ended so that you may answer them as you see fit, not as I see it. Continue reading

The Art of the Con

Politicians are masters of the art of deception. – Martin L. Gross

Currently we are involved in a battle called “class warfare.” It is a conflict where one group of politicians tells the losers of the country that you are being cheated by those who have money and what belongs to them actually belongs to you. These politicians use the term “fairness” to describe how much better your life would be if you were given the money the “rich” have. All you have to do to receive this money is to vote for the politician telling you this. Continue reading

The Silence of Freedom

I begin to feel like most Americans don’t understand the First Amendment, don’t understand the idea of freedom of speech, and don’t understand that it’s the responsibility of the citizen to speak out. – Roger Ebert

It is called Swatting and it is an insidious method used by losers to stop the flow of speech, especially speech they disagree with. Continue reading

A Land Called America

You’re not to be so blind with patriotism that you can’t face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it. — Malcolm X

It’s the time of year, a time of fireworks and parades, when we look at and say to ourselves, “Thank God above I live here.” Continue reading

Free is Only Make-Believe

Nothing is free – Someone always pays the price. GP McClure

There is no such thing as “free”. There never has been, there never will be. Someone always pays the price, in some manner, in some way. The price could be in dollars or time spent, but for something to be free it has to be paid for. Only in a liberal’s make-believe world does “free” anything exist. Continue reading

American Exceptionalism

The men the American public admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest most violently are those who try to tell them the truth. — H. L. Mencken

What makes’ America exceptional is her people, not the politicians. Each individual in this country is guaranteed the opportunity to achieve any goal they set for themselves. Notice I said the opportunity not the right to achieve. There is a huge difference between the two, like noon and midnight. Continue reading

Focus

If you don’t accept responsibility for your own actions, then you are forever chained to a position of defense. — Holly Lisle

One of the things about sales, the one item that superior sales leaders have learned, is to focus on the needs of the customer. And they do that by answering a simple question: How can the salesman make the customer’s life just a little easier? It’s a basic question but a powerful one and it often leads to many, many sales. Continue reading

Submit or Pay

So this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause. — George Lucas

This has been an interesting week for freedom. The most important aspect of the week is the notion that religious organizations must submit to the will of the government. Talk about violating the Constitution, you know that little phrase “separation of church and state,” which elitist are always cramming down our throats. Where’s the ACLU? Where’s the main stream media? I don’t hear anybody standing up condemning this issue, do you? Oh wait, I remember now, it’s because we, the people, the businesses, we don’t know what’s best for us. Only the government politicians know best therefore we must submit to their compassionate viewpoint, all for the safety of women of course. After all having children is a disease we must eradicate from America. Especially black children. Continue reading
