Decisions We Make

Success is simply a matter of luck. Ask any failure. – Earl Wilson

I know better, but I don’t do better. I know I should write more. I know I should blog more. I know I should exercise more. I know I should work on myself more. But I don’t.

So I have to ask myself why, why don’t I improve myself more? I have a million excuses but absolutely no valid reason. The bottom line, and the main explanation is: I do not have a strong enough desire to excel. And desire is everything. Desire is the foundation for all success. Desire is the very foundation of success. Desire is what gets us out of bed in the morning. Desire is the basic element which creates our life and the way we live life.

Success can be measured in many ways, and means different things to each individual, me included. As I look back on my life I see many successes, I also see many failures, but what stands out the most are the number of missed opportunities I had. And I had a lot of them.

One such opportunity happened in the early 1970’s. I had the opportunity to buy a Mooney aircraft for under $10,000. Now today that may not sound like much money, especially for a Mooney, but in the 70’s, earning only $600 a month, it was a lot of money. Still I could have made it work if I only had the desire to do so. I didn’t and that decision still haunts me to this day.

So what is the big deal you ask. It’s simple, the decisions we make today will affect, not may affect, will affect our life tomorrow. How much different my life would have been if I had made that purchase. So many things would have been different. My life would have different. I will never know because the path I chose sent me to where I am today. Still I wonder.

Am I unhappy today? No. But I did miss an opportunity to be better. I cheated myself out of what may have been something special. Or I could have died in an aircraft accident. The key point is: I don’t know because we don’t know what the future brings.

I failed to connect the dots of the past and that changed my future. For the good or for the bad? I don’t know and never will. That said, and because this blog is about politics and self-improvement, I have been able to connect some dots about the 2020 election and the future of this country.

As a country we are at a cross-road and make no mistake the path we chose will either keep us as a country or destroy us as a country. Looking at the tea leaves, connecting the dots, and understanding human nature I know which path is which and where each path will lead us. How do I know? Past experience. I’m not going to get into details as to why I believe this, not in this edition, but rather I am going to stay with generalities and basic thoughts.

I make no bones about being a conservative. I use to be a Republican but the Republican party threw me under the bus when Mitt Romney didn’t fight for us. In fact he still fights against us, the common man, because he is a creature of the swamp. As are many other career politicians. Which is why I became an Independent. A conservative independent.

I can’t tell someone how to vote, I can recommend, I can try to persuade, I can do a lot writing, but the bottom line is you and you alone must determine your future. The problem is when you determine the future with your vote you are determining mine and the same is true with my vote, I determine your future. It is a two-edge sword and one we have lived with since the beginning of our country.

The difference between the past and now is the hate involved. There is no more civility, no more common ground, no more peace in our land. No, we will be the savior or the destructor of our future depending upon this vote. That is how critical the vote is this election cycle.

It is up to you, up to me, to determine our future. And what is that future? Well that is something you need to discover for yourself. Me I choose freedom and prosperity over doom and despair. My question to you is how do you define these two concepts.

In closing let me ask you another question: Are you voting against a personality type, or voting against policies? Do you even know what the policies of the last four years are? If not, I highly recommend you find out.

Making It Count

Force always attracts men of low morality. – Albert Einstein

How does one make their life count? What does it mean when someone says “make it count”?

These are a couple of questions one needs to ponder in today’s world. When I look at what is happening to the country, what we are turning into, I have to wonder why. Where is the universe taking us and what is it trying to teach us?

The answer is simple: The universe is telling us we make our own life. Which means we have a lot of control over our destiny. We become what we want to become, we become what we think about. Continue reading

Conflicts to Come

People like to say that the conflict is between good and evil. The real conflict is between truth and lies. – Don Miguel Ruiz

As 2019 arrives so does the coming disruption of life. With a split Congress it is fairly certain that not much will get done over the next two years. Which means that you are on your own – finally. Continue reading

Changes and 2019

The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward. – Amelia Earhart

As 2018 comes to a close I look back and see just how little I did with my blog, and my website. I let life get in the way of the really important elements of existence. At any rate I will not let small issues interfere with my goals as they have changed for the better. Continue reading

What The?

OK, OK I know there has not been a new update since September. I always seem to let life get in the way. Oh well. I am working on it, but I admit my time management skills need updating as well. So with that said more post are on the way and Divine Providence knows I have a lot I want to talk about.

Dare to Dream

A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. – Colin Powell

Do you dare to dream? To make your life better and achieve something of importance? I think we all do, in fact I know we all do. The question then becomes do we follow our dreams or not? Continue reading

New Vision, New Direction

Ok I don’t know about the direction part but for sure a new vision. After much consideration I decided to go with a new theme. Now I know it needs some work but the prospects are very promising with this theme as it allows better viewing on a mobile device and will allow me to become more creative. Continue reading

Our Worthless Congress

The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn’t get worse every time Congress meets. — Will Rogers

Since February I have been threatening to write another blog, but I let life get in the way. Or maybe it was just apathy. Sometimes I just get confused, like members of Congress.

Anyway I used my health as an excuse for February and March, but it was just an excuse. After that I just never wrote. Which is my loss and my fault. But unlike Congress I own up to my undesire to excel. Continue reading

I transcend earthly bounds. I never cease to amaze myself because I haven’t yet found my limits. I am quite ready to accept the limits of what I can do, but every time I feel that way – boom! – God touches me and I do something that’s even more stupendous than whatever I’ve done up to then. — Don King

I am constantly amazed at everything life throws at us. I never really thought about it until recently and the more I think about it the more amazed I become. Continue reading

Anyone who thinks they’re important is usually just a pompous moron who can’t deal with his or her own pathetic insignificance and the fact that what they do is meaningless and inconsequential. – William Thomas

As I look around at the chaos I can’t help but wonder why these people don’t have a life. The answer becomes very obvious: They don’t know how to have a life. All they can engage in is a meaningless existence. An existence of their own creation. Continue reading
