Transitions

History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. — Martin Luther King, Jr.

This is my last post for 2012. As I write this I’m not exactly sure what I want to say but I’m sure I’ll figure it out as I place each word on the page. Continue reading

Thoughts

Follow the path of the unsafe, independent thinker. Expose your ideas to the dangers of controversy. Speak your mind and fear less the label of ‘crackpot’ than the stigma of conformity. And on issues that seem important to you, stand up and be counted at any cost. — Thomas J. Watson

This post is a little different from my regular posts in that I am going to discuss more than one item, instead of concentrating on only one train of thought. I want to begin with: Continue reading

A Thanksgiving Wish

If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. –Thomas Jefferson

What does Thanksgiving mean to you? Is it just a reason to have turkey? You can have turkey any day of the week, so why is Thanksgiving so special? Is it just an excuse for a day off? Just a regular holiday? Or could it be something more, much more. Continue reading

Living in Loserville

I felt despair. Though it seems to me now there’s two kinds of it: the sort that causes a person to surrender and then the sort I had which made me take risks and make plans. — Erica Eisdorfer

It appears that the people of this country have spoken and have rejected the founding principles of this nation and embraced the socialist mentality. So be it. I blame the Republican Party for this issue and have taken steps to… cleanse myself of them. After the election was called I got on the California website and changed my party affiliation from Republican to Independent. I am officially an Independent now. In fact I consider myself a Tea Party Independent. Continue reading

Visualizing Life

We will discover the nature of our particular genius when we stop trying to conform to our own or to other peoples’ models, learn to be ourselves, and allow our natural channel to open. — Shakti Gawain

Only lately have I begun to really visualize my life the way I want it. True I have been exposed to the visualization process for decades but I have never really practiced it, not fully anyway. In fact as I write this I’m not sure I am completely in sync with my self-visualization. Yet I am attempting, yes attempting to see myself in a new and exciting light. Continue reading

Being Rich

When I was young I thought that money was the most important thing in life; now that I am old I know that it is. — Oscar Wilde

There is a concept in today’s America, even the world, that being rich and having money is evil and the people who have it are corrupt. This fact is true. Drug dealers are evil and corrupt. Gangsters of the Mafia type are evil and corrupt. Tyrants who enslave nations are evil and corrupt. All these types of people have lots and lots of money. In fact they are in love with money and they love their money so much they will lie, cheat, steal, and murder anyone in order to keep it. Continue reading

At the Mercy of…

Do for yourself or do without – Gaylord Perry

Do you feel like you are being manipulated, controlled, and told what to believe and what not to believe? Join the club. So, what is the truth? What is the lie? Can I trust the main stream media? Who can I trust? Why are gas prices so high? Why am I unemployed? Why is my life in the toilet? Why is my country in the toilet? Why do I feel like crap? Continue reading

Angry and Just Plain Mad

He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else. — Benjamin Franklin

Getting started on this post is difficult because I am so angry I can’t even see straight. I know what I want to say and say it I will. First and foremost I am totally and completely angry with me and my stupidity. Why I put up with me is beyond me. So let me elaborate somewhat. Continue reading

The Power of Rest

Energy and persistence conquer all things. — Benjamin Franklin

There is a time for work and there is a time for play and most of us forget when to apply which to what. I have not had a major vacation in over two years and I was beginning to feel the effects of not taking one. There are a lot of excuses for not taking a vacation but not one valid reason. Even a minor vacation is better than no vacation, which I reminded myself of this last weekend. Continue reading

Double Standards

In our age there is no such thing as ‘keeping out of politics.’ All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia. – George Orwell

You don’t have to agree with me on anything I say in these blogs. In fact you can totally disagree with me and my philosophy if you so desire. I am not writing these blogs to change your mind on political matters but I am writing them to maybe change your way of thinking – the way you think about yourself. Continue reading
