To Grow

Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth. – John F. Kennedy

I’ve come to the conclusion that in order to grow I need to shake my life up a little. Maybe a lot. So the question is: How?

What do I need to do in order to make me grow more, to expand myself, to develop my soul? What actions do I need to engage in which will help me understand who I am and where I am going?

I guess these are some good questions, and they may be questions everyone who feels trapped in their circumstance needs to answer. Of course I could be blowing smoke, but I don’t think so.

There is however another question which is far more important than the ones I asked above, that question is basically the granddaddy of them all:

WHY AM I AFRAID TO GROW?

It is this question which must be answered before all others. Why? Because it is this question which keeps us from growing.

Let us define some terms in the human sense of the equation. First what do I mean by grow?

We all know what the word means in the dictionary sense but maybe not in the human sense. Consider, have you ever wondered why you are where you are? That is your current status of life. Are you rich? Are you poor? Are you in the middle, that is middle class? And what is the definition of “middle class”? Upper, middle, or lower middle class? Huh?

Yeah, confusing to be sure. Then add the fact the political arena is telling you having money is evil and wrong, what happens? You become convinced that life is stagnant for you, for everyone. Heaven forbid if someone tries, and succeeds at leaving the status quo than that person had to cheat someone else out of their share of the pie.

Think of it this way: the value of Pi is:

It never ends. But in the political view, the liberal view, Pi is ONLY 3.14 and never grows. From their viewpoint the pie of growth is fixed and can never increase.

We are told poverty and low wages is the normal way of the world, which must be true because smarter people than us tell us it is. The main stream media amplifies this belief and the entertainment industry cements this attitude in television and movie.

For the last two or three decades, twenty to thirty years for those who are public school graduates, we have been conditioned to accept that there is no hope for us, the lower class of people. We are told this by politicians, the main stream media (MSM), and Hollywood. Yet it is a message which contradicts the very meaning of life itself. A message which destroys life in every way conceivable. In other words we let other people, strangers, tell us we cannot develop. And for some reason we believe and accept their judgement as absolute fact, indisputable fact. My question is – Why?

By definition, correction, by reality, life itself means growth. You cannot have life without growth. Period. It is a law of the universe and cannot be changed by any man.

A rose is a perfect example. We have a flower seed and we put it in dirt. Then what? One of two things: 1) We water and nurture it and allow it to grow, or 2) We ignore it and allow it to be stagnant. The liberal and political viewpoint is option number 2. However that is not the end of the story. Depending upon where we plant our seed, indoors or out, means that life will make the final determination as to the disposition of the plant.

Eventually, by design or accidentally, our seed will find a way to grow. Why? Because life means growth. The seed will not be dormant forever. It may be years dormant, but not forever for life always finds a way to develop itself.

A human being is not a seed hence a human being will never be dormant for long. A few years maybe, but not a lifetime. Life forces growth no matter who, what, when, or where. This brings us full circle and back to the question: Why are we afraid to grow?

While fear and ridicule may keep us, the individual, dormant for a period of time, at some point someone will break the cycle, will break free of the fear and decide to increase life, their life. All of this is contrary to the popular belief that life is fixed against us. So when we realize we can mature and grow, that we can stretch our mind, that we can think, we begin to transverse a route towards a better life, for ourselves and our family. This is human growth.

Life requires increase and no one, nothing on this planet can keep life from increasing. Nature will not permit and nature rules all.

Democrats, liberals, and elites have it in their minuscule mind they are smarter than you, they know how to live your life better than you, and they have it as a mission to ensure you submit to their way or be destroyed. In other words: They are a special kind of stupid. And that’s giving them a lot of credit.

I know degrading individuals is really not a hallmark of professionalism but when people do not want to understand how they are being manipulated by complete strangers than what else can one call it. Forrest Gump said it best: “Stupid is as stupid does.”

The Shake-Up

I refuse to let my life be dictated by strangers who demand I bow to their will. Yet I know I need to shake my life up which brings me to this point: My shake-up needs to come from within, not without. I and I alone must be responsible for changing my attitude, my habits, and my desire for a better life. I and I alone must hold myself accountable for my action or inaction. I and I alone must be responsible for my thought process.

This is not to say I cannot and will not use outside help, I will, and I must. But using outside help does not constitute surrender, the surrender of my life to a doctrine which wants me to fail. To “fall in line” with a particular way of thinking and believing. That path is not for me and never will be.

So, I will read the books, listen to the tapes, ask the professionals (true professionals) the questions I need to ask. Then I will take the answers I find and either use them or discard them. Whatever is best for me and my situation.

I must grow, I must develop more life which means more thought process. I must, and I am assuming, responsibility for my life and my thought process. No one but me is responsible for my actions and thoughts. This is shaking things up. Yet there is one more element which must be employed in order to shake up my life and that element is WORK. Without work nothing will happen.

So what kind of work? More than I have done in the last few months. I must do more writing. I must maintain a schedule of activities and keep on that schedule. This schedule can be anything from writing a simple post to overhauling my website. Basically it is any action which will shake up the status quo I have established for myself. I must break and overcome my own status quo of ineffective action.

Can I do it? Yes. Will I do it? This question is my obstacle. I have the talent, I have the ability, I have the brain power to shake up my world, but do I have the desire to really make a difference in my own life?

That is the real question.
