Power and Responsibility

Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives. — Ronald Reagan

Today, in this country we the people are caught up in a war of ideology. The principle weapon in this war is class envy.

There are forces in play which pits one group of people against another, such as the poor against the middle class, the middle class against the rich, and the rich against everyone. This war, and make no mistake it is a war, is designed and strategized for one thing only: power.

Certain individuals want to keep power, and while most of these types are politicians there are others within the group who know that if they lose to common sense they lose any power they currently have.

So what is power, as it is defined in today’s world? Simply stated it is the ability of one individual to control and dictate the actions of another. In short it is the slave master and the slave. Individuals who are currently in positions of power feel they need to control the lives of everyone, and they are entitled to do so. Why are they entitled? They were voted into office, or assigned high profile jobs by those voted into office. In some cases they manipulated a specific situation to their own benefit and placed themselves in the position of power.

Now I’m being very vague with whom these people are, I will let you determine and come to your own conclusions on that subject. That said let me put out some basics facts, as determined via 200 years of prosperity in this country. It is a simple formula, easy to remember, easy to apply. It goes like this:

Money = freedom

Poverty = slavery

Government Programs = Poverty

Where do you fall in this formula? What are your feelings about this formula? Why do you embrace this formula?

This nation has experienced 200 years of prosperity, why? What one element has created this effect? The answer can be summed up in one word, but two is better: Individual Responsibility.

It has been said that about or slightly over fifty percent of this country receives some type of Government benefit. In the act of full disclosure I am one of those individuals. I spent 20 years in the military and retired with a pension. So yes I get something from the Government, a small pension check. Am I a hypocrite? No. Why? Because I worked for that pension, my job was to protect this country and that entailed a lot of sacrifice, a lot more than I thought at the time. One example of my sacrifice is the wear and tear on my body has had long and lasting effects, and as the years go by the effects become more pronounced.

I’m not complaining and I would do it all over again if I could. I might change a few things, but very few. The point is, that part of my life is over and I am engaged in another. This life I now live is based upon individual freedom and individual choices. It encompasses the ideology of becoming the best I can be, making mistakes, learning from them, and achieving more for my effort. But now, today political efforts are underway to take that opportunity away from me and you and put us on the plantation.

I am called racist because I disagree with policy. I am called a terrorist because I want accountability for elected officials. I am called narrow-minded because I believe in individual responsibility. And I am called the winner of life’s lottery because I own a house, I am white, and I have a job.

But I, I call myself American and self-sufficient. I call myself responsible for living my life and taking care of my family. I call myself a Christian because I believe in a higher power than myself. But most of all I call myself a conservative because I believe in the power and strength of the individual.

The power I have is the power I created in myself, a power of recognizing my own weaknesses and trying to make myself better. The power I have is my desire to learn and study to make myself better. The power I have is the power of faith and then putting my faith to work in order to achieve my dreams and goals. But most of all the power I have is the power of the vote, because I vote, and I go out of my way to vote.

I am responsible for my own life, my own world. I know that I have failed to live up to my own expectations but I have the power to change that, and I am changing my world. I am moving from a world of slavery into a world of sunlight and expectation. I am not bound by the words or threats of those that want to enslave me, but rather by the lexis of our Founding Fathers, the vocabulary of freedom and responsibility.

Those in power today have one agenda in mind, putting everyone, and I mean everyone on the plantation, regardless of skin color or national origin. These elitist mistakenly believe that I will submit to their will, a mistake that I will never commit. I have been trained to recognize brainwashing techniques, thanks to the Vietnam War. I have been trained to resist those that want to punish me for being an individual. But most of all I have been trained and taught to rely on a higher power, something larger than self and to believe that I was given a gift, the gift of life.

Money is freedom and I don’t have any as it has been taken away from me via the cruelest method possible – the teaching that I was not worthwhile and having money was evil. It took decades to shake that belief but I have and now, now in my late years I am making amends for my own stupidity and ignorance, when I let others tell me what I should think and how I should act.

I am an individual, a man who is working towards a much better life, and politics be damned for I will not be stopped in my quest for a much better life. Can you say the same?
