Character

Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound. — James Allen

Getting discouraged is not the way to improve your life. Getting frustrated is not the way to improve your life. Getting told by politicians that you need government to survive and to be happy is definitely not the way to improve your life.

It’s hard to stay motivated into today’s world and I have to ask myself, why is that? We live in the greatest country in the world, with freedoms other people in other nations can never imagine. Yet we have millions of people out of work and an economic depression that continues to exist. Why?

Ok, so you say we are not in a depression, really you believe that? If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, I will lay odds it’s a duck and not a fish. But… the politicians of today, the ones that control our lives, tells us it’s not a duck, it’s just a fish and maybe not even a fish. And this analysis is backed up and supported by the main stream media, a media who long ago gave up any pretense of being the watchdog of politics.

So now what? What happens next, or rather “what happens to me?”

What happens to me? A rather pointed question but one that is valid and needs to be asked. All of us work and survive for our own special interest. We are concerned with our well being first and foremost before we turn our attention to someone else. This is not a criticism, it’s just reality, the way life is, the way life was created. Yet even like this there are exceptions, such as when a man foregoes his own concern and gives his life to protect others. We read the stories and tell ourselves that we will protect others but if it came down to it, would we really? Three men in Aurora Colorado did. Consider it… character.

We do not know the character of anyone, much less ourselves, until the moment arrives and we are confronted with issues we never considered. A perfect example happened just this last week during the Chick-fil-A appreciation day when a young lady, doing her job at the Chick-fil-A restaurant she worked, was confronted by a complete idiot. A man who had nothing better to do than harass this young woman for working at Chick-fil-A. Much to her credit she maintained her composure while he videotaped the exchange and then posted it to YouTube. Needless to say the stunt backfired and this complete loser did lose, he lost his job. I don’t know what happened to the young lady but she is a hero for remaining calm under assault. That’s character.

All of us have it within us to be more than we currently are. Life is hard enough without someone making it harder on us. Just fighting nature alone sometimes takes all we have. A tornado destroys a town and families. One day a home exist, the next it doesn’t. Mother Nature can be extremely cruel and that is something we cannot fight against. Yet when people, like the jerk mentioned above, cause us problems we can do something about it. But what happens when politicians create laws which does more damage than all the tornados in the world, what do we do then?

Here is a very basic question that I never thought I would be asking: Why do we have to ask permission from our government to NOT buy a product? I give you Obamacare. I consider this concept a complete lack of character, but what do you think?

As politicians continue to push their will upon us we ask ourselves why do they do it? Come election time these same politicians are condemning the very actions they undertake, yet they lie to our face and tell us they are innocent of such behavior. No it’s not their fault, it’s the other teams fault. The finger pointing never stops and the truth is never revealed, the lie yes, the truth no.

It seems like the elements of today, specifically the political elements, are doing their best to keep people subdued and compliant. Why? The answer is clear, manipulation and control. Thus is the character of today’s politician.

One of man’s biggest evils is the evil of controlling the lives of others. It is called slavery and it has been around since the dawn of man. It is nothing more than forcing others to do a masters will and it was always the way of the world until the United States came along. We destroyed this insidious beast with a thing called the Civil War, a war which pitted brother against brother, father against son, and American against American. Guess what, freedom won, evil lost but didn’t die. It now is being resurrected in the form of tolerance, compassion, safety, and Chicago values.

We have the greatest form of government on the face of the Earth because we have individual freedom to live our lives the way we see fit. But in the name of benevolence from our government we are losing that freedom and the train to destruction is picking up speed to send us over the cliff.

The first thing that is attacked is character. The character of an individual is everything and if the character is weak it can be manipulated, shaped and formed by men with evil in their hearts. This is why Christianity is under constant attack. Christianity builds character and the stronger the belief in a higher authority the greater the character of man. Character is supported by moral and ethical standards, which in a society to be dominated by masters cannot stand. Thus religion that supports love, peace and tolerance cannot be allowed to exist. It must be replaced by another religion which tolerates nothing and supports the killing of innocents. Politicians know this deep in their soul but convince themselves that compassion is their true motivation to destroy Christianity and embrace Islam.

Character at one time was present in our leaders, so what happened? That is a very good question and one no one wants to answer. You see the answer would destroy the false beliefs of those who embrace chaos and the destruction of the American way of life.

The destruction of character has been under attack for decades. Just as the Muslims continue to fight the battles from the seventh century so too are the politicians fighting the battles to destroy character. Specifically the character of the United States and nowhere is this more evident than in the halls of Washington DC. Liberals dominate there and they constantly tell themselves they do what they do in the name of compassion. If what they are doing to the American way of life is compassion I would rather take hell, at least there I know where I stand.

Yet we don’t have to submit to the destruction of our character, we do have a choice. We can choose to live free and defy those politicians who want to enslave us. And we do it by beginning with self.

All change begins with self and until this truth is realized no change will ever occur. God gave us a self-interest attitude for a reason so that we may build upon our weaknesses to become stronger. The “What happens to me” question is a major contributor to our well being and our future. Yet how we change ourselves becomes a question all to itself.

There are many traits that make up the character of man, or woman. These traits determine who we are, how we act, and how we live our lives. If your character is weak you must work on it, just as I work on mine. My character has been weak which is evident by the way I live – Average. Yet in this country there is no reason to be average. Yet we choose to be because we have been conditioned to be average. So how can we overcome this weakness?

It begins with changing the question from “What happens to me” to “How can I improve myself today?”

Travel anywhere in the world and you will see what we grew up believing about America is still true: despite the huge changes that have taken place, this is still…

It takes effort to change thought patterns, but is not impossible. Inconvenient, difficult, annoying, and frustrating, yes to all the above. Improving your life is a challenge but one that is well worth the effort. Still you have decide for yourself. It is so easy to go with the flow, to be… average. Trouble is average gets you nowhere and by being average you become part of the problem and not part of the solution.

Your life is special, it has meaning, it has merit, but most of all it has value. Listening to liberals and politicians of today and you would think otherwise. So, quit listening to the politicians, and quit reading newspapers that espouse American negativism. Start believing in yourself, your abilities, and realize that you were put on this planet for a reason. What is that reason? It’s as individual as you are, but it is special and it is your duty to find it. Personally I like the explanation I heard years ago, something from Albert Einstein. It is quoted that he describe the reason for life, the reason we exist. I paraphrase here: “Man was put on this planet to be of service to other men.” Helping others maybe the reason you exist. Something to think about.

So how do you build character? The first step to building, or rebuilding your character is to change your thinking and that means making a firm decision. I made mine in November 2010 when I realized I was approaching 60 years of age and I had done nothing with my life. Nothing. I was average and I am so tired of being average. As an American I automatically default to above average but I was condition to stay below average. And I didn’t disappoint anyone who told me that.

But no more. I began to rebuild my character one day at a time, one hour at a time. I am still working on it but I have made great strides in this area.

My question to you is simple: Are you satisfied with your life, the way it is now? You can change it just as I am changing mine, consistently a little at a time. You are capable of living a great and marvelous life but it takes effort and dedication to make it a reality. Nobody is going to give you anything and that is exactly the way it should be. People will help you, they will encourage you and they can motivate you, IF you connect with the right people.

In today’s world the ones that help you overcome your own demons are under constant attack from the forces that want to control and manipulate each of us. Will you allow this to happen or are you ready to improve your life, pay the price that is necessary, and persist until you arrive at your destination?

It is a question I have already answered for me, now you have to answer it for yourself.
