Making It Count

Force always attracts men of low morality. – Albert Einstein

How does one make their life count? What does it mean when someone says “make it count”?

These are a couple of questions one needs to ponder in today’s world. When I look at what is happening to the country, what we are turning into, I have to wonder why. Where is the universe taking us and what is it trying to teach us?

The answer is simple: The universe is telling us we make our own life. Which means we have a lot of control over our destiny. We become what we want to become, we become what we think about.

When we hate a man who was lawfully elected to be President of the United States, simply because he defeated the unbeatable, what does that say about us as a nation, as a people? It’s not good by any measure. So what is to gain? That answer is also simple: The illusion of power.

I’m not going to get into reasons you may hate the President, you may feel you have legitimate reasons to do so. If I ask you to explain those reasons, could you? Could you write those reasons on paper? Honest reasons not hyperbole?

I know you could write down feelings, you can express feelings, but are they reasons to hate the man? I know you cannot explain why you hate the man. Perhaps it is a simple as someone telling you to.

Maybe he irritates you, a lot of people irritate me, but I don’t hate them. They frustrate me, but hate? They don’t frustrate me that much. So why do you, if you do, hate the President? Give valid reasons and make it count.

Again you can’t because there are no valid reasons to hate, just mob emotion. To be part of the crowd means everything because deep down you feel your life is worthless. And if you are acting with the mob mentality, then your life is worthless. You have nothing to give except hate. I don’t even feel sorry for you because you chose this path you are on. Nobody forced you to travel this road, you decided this direction all by all by yourself.

You can change, but you can’t change until you recognize one simple truth: Somebody is pulling your chain and it is not Donald J. Trump.

This somebody is making their dreams come true while denying you yours. You are a puppet on a string, and somebody is controlling your movements but you don’t even know it. Nor do you care.

How do I know this? You’re on the news every night, being praised for your actions. Which makes you feel wanted, needed. Yet in the long run you will lose, and you will lose everything, you just don’t know it… yet.

I have a question for you… why don’t you make your life count? The path you are on is not going to help you at all, rather this direction will end up destroying you. Forty years from now, yeah I know an eternity, you will look back on these days and ask yourself: What the hell was I thinking?

The answer: You weren’t. You were used and then tossed aside like an old dishrag. And you deserve it. Unless you decide to change and make your life count.

The mob mentality is strong, resistible, it creates a feeling of belonging to something bigger than self. The truth is the feeling is sinking you faster than the Titanic and like the Titanic there will be no hope of raising you to the surface.

There will be attempts to be sure, but when it counts you will be absent from the roll call and become lost to the dust bin of the hippy movement of the 60”s.

Still there is a whisper of hope, if you act now and come to your senses. But you can’t come to your senses until you realize something is missing from your life. A “something” which allows you to fulfill your potential, not only to yourself but to society as well.

Where do you start? Just ask this simple question: What force can change my life allowing me to make it worthwhile and better?

It is a simple question with a simple answer but requires some realizations on your part.

First – Recognize there is a force, a strong, powerful force which can change your life, if you desire. Again you have to have a desire to improve and change your life, even when you don’t know where to start.

Second – Recognize that your life is fluid not fixed. You are not set in concrete never to be moved. Still even concrete can be destroyed if enough force is applied.

Third – You are in complete control of one item. True there many items you have absolutely no control over, but this one item you do: Your thoughts. You and you alone control your thoughts.

And Forth – That emptiness you feel inside can be overcome but you have to want to make a change in your life, otherwise this force, this wonderful force, will have no effect upon you. Well I take that back as this force can be used for either good or bad, like the dark side. This force is always present, always available, and always exerting its power over each and every one of us. And most of the people will never give it a second thought.

So what is this force which can be wonderful or horrible depending upon how it is used? I must tell you there is a third mode to this force, one which the majority of people default to.

Alright already, what is this magical force that can change my life, sometimes in only an instant?

One word, one simple word: Attitude.

Your attitude controls every aspect of your being. If you are breathing you are being controlled by your attitude.

Get outta town!

Accept or reject, it makes no difference, for attitude is everything. It exist even if you deny it. It controls you, your every movement, your every action every second of the day. You cannot escape it. You cannot evade it, but you can use it. You can even shape it and most of all control it.

Attitude is what makes your life count. It is also what makes your life miserable. And for normal people it is what makes life so-so.

It is the magical ingredient which makes or breaks your life, which creates happiness or misery, but most of all it is the element which gives your life meaning.

Think about it. If you dare.

Dare to Dream

A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. – Colin Powell

Do you dare to dream? To make your life better and achieve something of importance? I think we all do, in fact I know we all do. The question then becomes do we follow our dreams or not? Continue reading

I transcend earthly bounds. I never cease to amaze myself because I haven’t yet found my limits. I am quite ready to accept the limits of what I can do, but every time I feel that way – boom! – God touches me and I do something that’s even more stupendous than whatever I’ve done up to then. — Don King

I am constantly amazed at everything life throws at us. I never really thought about it until recently and the more I think about it the more amazed I become. Continue reading

Anyone who thinks they’re important is usually just a pompous moron who can’t deal with his or her own pathetic insignificance and the fact that what they do is meaningless and inconsequential. – William Thomas

As I look around at the chaos I can’t help but wonder why these people don’t have a life. The answer becomes very obvious: They don’t know how to have a life. All they can engage in is a meaningless existence. An existence of their own creation. Continue reading

The mind is everything. What you think you become. – Buddha

One of the basis of self-improvement is the ability to “see” within. So what exactly does that mean and why do I even want to concern myself with it?

Ok, fair enough, good questions and ones that I have even asked myself from time-to-time. So let us answer them. Continue reading

Moving the Universe

Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work. — A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

There are universal laws which govern the movement of the universe, laws created by intelligence greater than us. We often call this intelligence God. I also use the term Divine Providence, which, for me, includes the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Continue reading

Getting There

Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain… To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices – today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it. – Kevyn Aucoin

Sometimes we get confused, well me, I get confused all the time. Which got me to thinking about my future, my goals, and my dismal success record. Well I call it dismal as I am not where I want to be, but maybe that is a good thing. Anyway it was this thought that caused me to ask the question: Why am I not where I want to be? Continue reading

The Dream

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” –  C.S. Lewis

It has been said by the many self-improvement experts that one should “dream big” in order to move ahead.

Well enough I suppose but there is a lingering question that never seems to get answered: How does one “dream big”? Continue reading

A New Year

Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering, ‘It will be happier.’ — Alfred Lord Tennyson

As we bid farewell to 2016 I find myself looking forward to 2017. Then I found myself asking a question: What is there about a new year which changes us, often affects us, and sometimes leaves us full of dread?

On the calendar, January 1st is just another day. In the life of the planet the sun rises and sets like it has for millions, billions of years. So why do we consider the day different? Continue reading

The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals. — Melody Beattie

As we approach 2017 we look back upon the year with amazement. There can be no other way to describe 2016. So many things happened in 2016 it rattled our brain. Of course the main thing that happened was this country (except the socialist state of California) elected a non-politician. Continue reading
